Famous faces drop into New York Tabletop Show
The New York Tabletop Show has once again had the Forty One Madison building buzzing with its usual mix of tenants and key buyers after another successful October Show.
Amongst the usual buzz of buyers, a few more recognisable faces were also spotted by the Tableware International team launching their new ranges to the US market.
Famed US businessman Donald Trump (pictured) stopped by the Rogaska showroom with the launch of the new ‘Trump Home’ crystal collection. Coinciding with the opening of their new expanded showroom, Portmeirion launched Aiden Byrne’s new ‘A-symmetry’ collection for Spode, with the Michelin Star chef on site to present the new range to guests.
The WWRD showroom on the 23rd floor also invited famed designers Vera Wang and John Rocha to celebrate their work within the company’s portfolio of brands.
Building Director Laurie Burns says the show’s line up of events was a positive reflection on the current market place. She told Tableware International: “With five new showrooms opening their US offices, confidence is strong in the US. In addition, there were major launches at the high-end, unprecedented for a fall show. These were well received at retail, another positive sign. Celebrities and chefs continue to inspire in our category.
“All of the major retailers from the US, Canada, Central and South America were at the show, as were many independent retailers and e-tailers, a growing category whether as an independent e-tailer or websites of traditional bricks and mortar shops.
“The US needs a really strong Christmas at retail to round off 2010 and kick off 2011.”
For a full preview of the show and also a round up of the best new product spotted in NY, look out for the forthcoming November / December issue of Tableware International.
