Visitors out in full force for Autumn trade shows

A number of key european trade shows have reported an increase in visitor numbers across the board, as we report back from the busy September buying season.

Tableware International made visits to Tendence, Maison et Objet, Macef and  Autumn Fair during early September, with a positive feedback from each. In addition to an increase in visitor numbers, the shows varies organisers also reported a notable increase in international influence.

The ever-stylish Maison et Objet saw the welcome addition of Hall 7 on the show site, which showcased the very best in the Home-Fashion industry. The show saw an increased of 1.1% in visitors, and reported a 6.4% increase in visitors from outside France.

Messe Frankfurt, the organisers of Tendence, reported a positive reaction to the show resuming its more traditional time slot of late August. The show reported more than 90 countries represented in its visitors, with visitors from the USA doubled as compared to previous years.

Milan's Macef also reported a strong international influence, with more than 13% of the shows visitors travelling from outside Italy. The show also reported a healthy increase from visitors travelling from the US and Japan.  The show's popularity was also demonstrated by a 10% increase in total space for the latest edition.

The UK also raised the bar in visitor attendance following the Autumn Fair, in Birmingham which reported a increase in visitor numbers of nine percent than the previous year. The show builds on the success of AFI 2009 and Spring Fair International 2010 - which both saw a rise in visitor numbers - and bodes well for both the crucial Christmas trading period and spring 2011.

Full reviews for each of the shows above and the recent New York International Gift Fair can be found in the September / October issue of Tableware International.
