Ambiente 2015 gearing up for Partner Country USA

Designer Scott Henderson presents exclusive preview of partner country presentation

The United States of America will be the partner country of Ambiente in 2015, the leading international consumer goods trade show. With seven months to go before the impressive trade show kicks off, the first details of how exhibitors from the United States will be represented in a special presentation were announced during a press event in New York.

Ambiente features more than 4,700 exhibitors from around 90 countries on an area the size of more than 60 American Football fields. It offers buyers a vast product range in three sectors: Dining, Giving and Living. On the occasion of the Partner Country USA project, a comprehensive programme has been planned and will include a special presentation, theme day, activities and events.

Scott Henderson from the New York-based design studio “Scott Henderson Inc.,” has been selected to take charge of designing the special presentation for next year’s show. “Scott Henderson has an outstanding competence in design, especially when it comes to consumer goods products. We are very excited about his concept and ideas for creating a powerful presentation for US-American products at Ambiente 2015,” says Nicolette Naumann, Vice
President of Ambiente/Tendence.

Scott Henderson explains his conceptual approach: “The biggest design challenge for the Partner Country presentation was how to decide what to do among the seemingly endless possibilities. When I think of the United States, I think about the beautiful natural landscapes that are everywhere, and how each one is very different from the next based on region. The concept for this Partner Country exhibition is a New England seaside, with the authentic and truly American Adirondack Chairs facing the serenity of the sea.” His concept draws on the vastness of the North American countryside and will provide an atmospheric backdrop for the US-American products featured in the Partner Country USA presentation.

At Ambiente 2014, the U.S. was represented by 91 companies, an increase of almost 17 percent compared to 2013. Thus, the USA ranked among the top 15 exhibitor nations of Ambiente 2014. 144,000 trade buyers from 161 countries (2013: 140,000 from 143 countries) travelled to Frankfurt for Ambiente, of which 3,326 were from the United States, ranking them sixth among Ambiente visitors. More than 70 companies from the United States have already registered for 2015, including Design Ideas, Lenox, Nambé, Oxo International, Q Squared Design and Vitamix Corporation. US- companies with international distribution networks like KitchenAid and Libbey Glassware are also part of the international offer Ambiente provides for buyers from all over the world.

Ambiente features an impressive range of topics
As a meeting place for the global consumer goods industry, Ambiente features a wide range of topics from up-and-coming designers to volume business solutions.With the launch of the Contract Business program at Ambiente in 2012, the show has become a hotspot for the contract sector. Hospitality professionals and decision makers, such as project developers, professional buyers, furnishing specialists, interior architects and designers, restaurateurs and hoteliers can find the right business contacts, expertise and tailor-made solutions for the contract business and Horeca (Hotel, Restaurant, Catering) segments.
Ambiente is also a major player in the volume business sector. As the most significant sourcing platform outside China, it offers a wide spectrum of merchandise in the Passage product area. In six exhibition halls, visitors will find over 1,300 selected export-oriented suppliers from China, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, Thailand and many other countries.

The most important trends for the table, kitchen, home and giving segments will be on show at Ambiente 2015. The four trend worlds are the work of the renowned trend bureau stilbüro bora.herke.palmisano. The trend show will be supplemented by daily guided tours and lectures.

For many young designers and start-ups, the Talents and Next promotional programs represent important steps on their career ladder. At Ambiente, up-and-coming young designers from the product, furniture and jewelry design segments present their ideas, designs and prototypes.

The Solutions special show focuses on clever ideas. It shows new products from Ambiente exhibitors, which offer creative solutions for the tableware, kitchen and household segments. As part of the show, designer and curator Sebastian Bergne spotlights special features of each of the products selected in a brief film clip.

Ambiente 2015 will again, be the setting for the presentation of numerous renowned awards. Products skillfully combining aesthetic qualities with practical benefits are honored with the Design Plus Award and the winning products displayed during the show. The German Design Award is presented on the first day of the show and visitors will also find the winning products in an impressive exhibition. The ‘Plagiarius’ negative award shaming product piracy and the Kitchen Innovation are also given during Ambiente.
