Ambiente 2015 to focus on USA

To be held under the Star-Spangled Banner, the Frankfurt show will feature some 90 US countries and an American programme experience for all the senses

Ambiente 2015 will be held under the Star-Spangled Banner when, from 13 to 17 February, the world’s leading trade fair for the consumer-goods sector spotlights its Partner Country for 2015, the United States of America. Around 90 of the 4,700 exhibitors expected come from the USA and include companies such as American Cookware, Chef’n, Design Ideas, Gibson, Hampton Forge, KitchenAid, Lenox Corporation, Yankee Candle and Vitamix.

“The USA is characterised by an incredibly exciting range of different styles. I am looking forward to the exchange of ideas and the impulses sure to be generated by the appearance of the United States of America as this year’s Ambiente Partner Country”, says Nicolette Naumann, Vice President Ambiente/Tendence.

The impressive ‘Seashore Galore’ Partner Country presentation by designer Scott Henderson is distinguished by a stimulating selection of products made by renowned US companies such as Areaware, Artecnica, Nambé, OXO and Zoku. Set against the grandiose backdrop of a New England seascape, the products are mixed with artefacts such as oversized Adirondack chairs, plant-like tables and classic US mailboxes.

Another highlight is the Partner Country Day on the Monday of the fair. Many exhibitors from the Land of Opportunity will offer special activities for visitors. In Hall 4.1, for example, Lenox will be raffling fine bone china dinnerware made, of course, in the USA while, Big Mouth Toys will hold a ‘2 Meter Inflatable Football Raffle’ in Hall 9.2. Cake lovers will be in seventh heaven in Hall 3.0 where Wilton is planning a ‘Buttercream Cake Decorating’ presentation. Additionally, Vinturi will let the wine breathe and give visitors the chance to try US wines in Hall 1.1.

A visit to the two Talents areas also holds out the promise of enduring impressions. The Messe Frankfurt promotional programme presents young international designers in Halls 4.0 (Table Contemporary Design) and 11.0 (Loft). Two of the Talents come from the USA and will be showing their works in the Loft section. Jessica Herrera and the New York ‘Visibility’ design studio with Joseph Guerra and Sina Sohrab will present exciting home interior design there.

Many cafés will be open in the exhibition halls, to give visitors the chance to digest their multifarious impressions or hold discussions in a relaxed atmosphere. Naturally, the Partner Country will also be represented by a variety of themes. Thus, the ‘Lifespace Lounge’ by Brooklyn-based Designer Jason Miller in Hall 4.1 promises moments of tranquillity while Veit Streitenberger uses Pop Art and Broadway motifs for his two cafés in Halls 4.0 and 4.2.

There will also be a special treat for the ears for visitors entering Ambiente via the Portalhaus entrance where the ‘Something Big’ band from San Francisco will play music by Burt Bacharach and Hal David – a great musical entrée to the fair.
