Argos rolls out eReceipts
Argos becomes the UK's largest retailer to offer customers digital receipts
Argos announces today that it has rolled out eReceipts across its 750 UK and Ireland stores, following a trial earlier this year. This is another milestone in the retailer’s five-year Transformation Plan to become a digital retail leader, which includes national roll outs of other innovations including the eBay partnership and ‘Hub-and-Spoke’ distribution network.
The eReceipts initiative gives Argos’ customers the option of an emailed receipt straight into their account, allowing them to safely and easily store a permanent digital record of their purchases and warranties.
The platform also provides Argos with a powerful new channel to enhance communication with its customers, and provide them with more relevant offers in future, with emailed receipts sent by eReceipts currently achieving open rates in excess of 70%.
Stephen Vowles, Argos Marketing Director said: “We are very excited about this initiative, especially as trials have been well received by colleagues and customers alike. Customers love it because they feel reassured that they have a record of purchases without cluttering up their wallets, and colleagues appreciate the benefits which enable them to provide an even more convenient service to customers.”
The real-time information provided by the eReceipts dashboards also helps Argos get insight into how customers shop.
eReceipts, CEO Andrew Carroll, added, “Our ability to integrate the eReceipts software with all 750 Argos stores shows how retailers, no matter how large or small, and regardless of their existing POS environment, can utilise digital receipts to understand and engage with customers with minimal effort and complexity.”
The technology has been developed by eReceipts, the UK’s leading digital receipts solution, which is chaired by Lord Ian MacLaurin.
Benefits for customers

Customers will benefit from relevant communications (i.e. how to videos, recipes, instruction manuals). Higher value than traditional “spray and pray” promotional activity
Benefits to retailers
Through the eReceipts platform retailers can obtain customer insight across all channels through behavioural segmentation. This data can then be utilised for category and range reviews and pricing and promotions optimisation.
