Bernardaud announces collaborative exhibit

The Bernardaud Corporate Foundation brings together seventeen international artists for a ceramic exhibit running June 2017 to February 2018

The Bernardaud Corporate foundation has brought together seventeen international artists to produce ceramic designs on a floral theme.

These designs, created by designers, many of whom are first-time exhibitors in France, will be brought together in an exhibition, whichn will take place June 23, 2017, through February 24, 2018, at the Bernardaud Corporate Foundation in Limoges.

Flowers and ceramics have been traditionally paired in decorative arts. Before the 20th century, there were no sculptures featuring a predominantly floral theme, it was only recently that ceramics begant to be favoured by artists whose works naturally find their place in art galleries.

Wtih C'est le bouquet!, a new and unique relationship is being explored by the Bernardaud Foundation, revealing how the ornamental flower has become a subject in its own right.

While appropriating the incredibly rich ceramic tradition, artists are inventing new ways of working with it, overcoming technical difficulties to experiment with monumental scale or to create mysterious textures.

Collaborative artists include Anne Wenzel, Kim Dickey, Joan Bankemper, Susan Hipgrave, Phoebe Cummings and Dirk Staschke, to name but a few.
