Chicago’s new Discover Design nearly sold out
The new Expo of Discover Design at the 2016 International Home + Housewares Show features nearly 200 market leaders from around the globe
Design-focused exhibitors from all Show categories will fill the new Discover Design Expo at the 2016 International Home + Housewares Show, March 5-8 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
Previously a category in the Dine + Décor Expo in the South Building, the Discover Design Expo is moving to a new location in the front of the North Building.
The 2016 Show will also feature new branding focusing on the "It’s smART" theme, which combines smart business decisions directly with the art used to design, create and market products. Show signage and visuals will reflect the melding of smart thinking and smart design.
"Discover Design is the premier design destination at the Show and features some of the world’s finest design and trend leaders offering high-end products and collections. It’s just a smART decision to move it to a prominent position in the North Building," said Phil Brandl, IHA president/CEO.
Discover Design is almost sold-out with nearly 200 well-known brands and market leaders from around the globe. Exhibitors returning in 2016 include Alessi, Joseph Joseph, Charles Viancin, Nambe, Eva Solo and Koziol. First-time exhibitors include Chilewich, Victor + Victoria, Vintage Kitchen and Monkey Business.
IHA continues its commitment to develop design innovation with the incubator program Design Debut, which allows 10 new-to-the-Show exhibitors whose product demonstrates high-design and innovation to come and experience the International Home + Housewares Show without having to create an entire display.
Adjacent to Discover Design will be The Aisle of Style featuring high-design focused exhibitors from the Clean + Contain Expo. Within The Aisle of Style will be the Lounge, containing sleek white leather couches, illuminated cylinders featuring high gloss photos of design products and serving as the front row to Discover Design.
The Discover Design Cocktail Party for buyers, news media and Discover Design exhibitors will be held on Sunday evening, March 6 in the Lounge.
Along with the Discover Design Expo and new Show look, other Show changes include refining the other Expo names and adjustments to some categories to address the supply and demand for booth space. These changes include:
• The Dine + Design Expo is now Dine + Décor and includes the categories cook + bakeware; tabletop, kitchen essentials + accents; gourmet foods + products and home Décor.
• The Clean, Contain + Sustain Expo has been renamed Clean + Contain and will remain in the North Building. Clean + Contain includes the Inventors Corner Pavilion and Inventor Revue.
• The Global Crossroads Expo is now the International Sourcing Expo and moves to Level 1 of the North Building.
