Autumn Home attracts A-list influencers
Its biggest autumn show to date, Home London and Top Drawer attracted first-class international buyers from more than 65 countries
This September Home and sister show Top Drawer unveiled their biggest autumn show to date at Olympia. World-class brands and smaller creative businesses were joined by a host of new exhibitors, who collectively launched thousands of exciting new products.
With a thriving Top Drawer, a second edition of Home autumn, that grew by over 40 per cent, and the presence of the best design led brands in the business from every sector, this was a really exciting show. What was particularly pleasing was that buyers saw so many favourites who have not shown in London for many years across all sectors of the show, such as Sia, Leonardo and One World, plus a host of brands who were new to the UK such as Canvas, direct from New York.
The show was enthusiastically received by a vast audience: International buyers flew in from 65 countries, generating an overseas attendance increase of 16%, while many prominent and influential UK buyers including Anthropologie, Harrods, Heals, John Lewis, Liberty, Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason, National Gallery Company and Topshop ensured they were all at this paramount event. The press were also enthusiastic about the show, with key industry titles Drapers, Giftware Review, Housewares Magazine and Progressive Gift & Home all in attendance. Consumer publications such as The Financial Times, The Guardian, The Sunday Times and The London Evening Standard came along as did the BBC and Condé Nast.
Home recruited an inspiring cast of high quality exhibitors and exclusive product launches. Major league design brands, including Alessi, A.U. Maison, Garden Trading, Forma House and LSA International showed alongside a strong intake of new Home exhibitors, with Anna Jacobs, Voyage Maison, Ulster Weavers, Dankotuwa Porcelain and Swarm Design England joining established Home acquaintances such as Black+Blum, Ella Doran Design, Makers & Merchants, Make International and White Brands.
"Home Spring and Autumn are the only shows for us in the UK. It’s great to be surrounded by quality ‘design’ brands and we see an excellent mix of existing and new customers with very few time wasters - a great show," says Laurence White, director, White Brand Agency Ltd.
Busy stands filled the aisles creating a vibrant atmosphere, while a number of successful events within the show were run throughout the 3 days. The Academy Masterclasses, which offered up short seminars and presentations led by informative experts and keynote speakers, played a prominent role at Top Drawer and Home this September.
Wayne Hemingway’s keynote address on how ‘Creative-led Regeneration’ is benefitting retailers, proved a hot-ticket, as did many of the other engaging and varied talks from a host of expert speakers. It wasn’t just within the walls of Olympia that the show was so enthusiastically embraced, Twitter and Instagram activity increased by a staggering 84% and 76% respectively throughout the duration of the show.
With a major re-branding and the addition of new elements such as speciality and fine food planned, the January event looks set to be another record breaking event, running from 17th - 19th January 2016.
