NY NOW lights up New York

With the hottest trends for home, lifestyle and gift, attendeets, buyers and exhibitors raved about summer 2017 NY NOW Market

NY NOW®, the Market for Home, Lifestyle + Gift, was brimming with excitement from all corners of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center during the summer 2017 market. From August 19th through the 23rd, thousands of attendees took to the market floor to browse more than 2,400 exhibiting brands offering an endless mecca of the most on-trend products in hundreds of categories.

From home décor and furnishings, tabletop and housewares, gifts, stationery, and textiles, as well as personal care and accessories for men, women and children, and more, plus exclusive events and seminars, NY NOW was the place to be!

“The range of products that exhibitors showcased was top-notch and we were excited to see so many incredible trends come to life,” said Randi Mohr, Group Show Director, NY NOW and Vice President, Emerald Expositions. “From a growing number of men’s lifestyle exhibitors, to an expanded toy and game section, plus nearly 500 new exhibitors and a busy seminar schedule, this market really shined!”

Influencers and tastemakers
NY NOW always brings together leading tastemakers, icons and visionaries from the design and fashion industries and the summer 2017 market welcomed some of the best! Adam Glassman, Creative Director of O, The Oprah Magazine, Emmy Award-winning fashion correspondent, and regular NY NOW attendee was on-site to judge NY NOW’s Best New Product Awards Programme. Also while on-site, Glassman explored the Market for creative and trending finds that may one day grace the pages of the magazine.

“This was one of the best NY NOW markets that I’ve attended in quite a few years. The layout felt fresh and exciting, I saw a lot of new introductions, and the energy was at a peak level,” says Glassman. “I found things to help complete our 2017 edition of Oprah’s Favorite Things including a completely new exhibitor that was showing in the U.S. for the very first time! That’s the thing I love about NY NOW – you can find new things, meet new people and really impact their business.”
 
Iris Apfel, interior designer and fashion icon, also joined us along with her students from the innovative UT in NYC design program, to discover everything that NY NOW had to offer.
 
Plus, Bobbi Brown, entrepreneur, author, and founder of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics & Beauty Evolution once again returned to the Market and comments, “I love the NY NOW Market where you can see so many new, cool brands. As someone who is both practical and highly visual, I get both inspiration and ideas from the show. While building my new lifestyle platform, I’ve been able to curate products, and partner with great brands for the Justbobbi shops at Lord & Taylor from the Market. Stay tuned for what I found this year that will be in our design and lifestyle hotel, The George Inn in Montclair, NJ, set to open at the end of this year. I also love the connections you can make when meeting new people at the market, and the networking that takes place when running into people you know.”
 
Attendee and exhibitor highlights
At the summer edition of NY NOW, attendees and exhibitors displayed incredible enthusiasm about their experience. Some comments:

Nansey Cardone, Love Letters (Cape Charles, VA) comments: “I was extremely surprised at the merchandise that I found at NY NOW.  This was my first time and I will never miss it.  I found some very unique products and brands that I have never found at any other show that I attended.  NY NOW is just the BEST!!!”

While Jennie Spencer, Collections Maui (Makawao, HI) adds: “Some of my associates are surprised that I would go all the way to NY from Hawaii to buy, but I discovered a few years ago, that it is well worth the trip!  As shows on the west coast are shrinking in content, NY NOW has a fabulous bounty.  I find new inspiration every time, and my customers know there will always be new, cutting edge, and creative treasures to find in my store.”
 
Additionally, leading and upcoming designers showcased their wares to buyers from around the world. “Best show of the year, hands down", says Jason Faulkner, founder, Printed Village; while Lisa Devo, co-founder, Soap & Paper Factory says: "We had literally the best show in our show career, and we have been doing NY NOW for many years!”

NY NOW’s robust award programs honored extraordinary product offerings from exhibitors across the Market. Highlights include:
• “Best in Market” Award – Recognized the one standout product among the ten separate section category winners of the “Best New Product” Awards.
