Hotelympia 2014’s awards finalists revealed
The most groundbreaking new products in hospitality are unveiled in run-up to Innovation Awards
Products in the categories of Tabletop & Design, Catering Equipment, Food & Drink and Technology will now go head-to-head on day one of the show (28th April 2014), with delegates pitching behind-closed-doors to Hotelympia’s Innovation Idols in a nail biting finale where only four will emerge victorious.
The final decision lies with the Innovation Idols – handpicked captains of industry that span the hospitality world – who will be on hand to judge the finalists’ credentials. 2014 Idols include: Nick Sandler, creative chef for Pret A Manger; President of SBID, Vanessa Brady; chief executive of London-based pub and bar group, Grand Union, Adam Marshall; Professor David Russell and David Bentley from respected catering consultancy, The Russell Partnership; acclaimed restaurateur, chef and ‘Spice Man’ Cyrus Todiwala OBE; 2013 National Chef of the Year, Hayden Groves; food futurologist, Morgaine Gaye and Jody Scheckter, founder of Laverstoke Park Farm.
Toby Wand, Managing Director at Fresh Montgomery, said: “As the Innovation Awards return, we feel that not only have we uncovered the brightest new innovations in the hospitality world, but raised the bar yet again in terms of product quality and new ideas. Good luck to our finalists facing the Innovation Idols – the process will be demanding yet extremely positive. I look forward to our four winners being crowned and to seeing each and every finalist on display throughout the four days of the show.”
The Innovation Awards ceremony will take place on Hotelympia’s Stage at 4pm on 28th April – day one of Hotelympia. Show visitors will be able to see the finalists for themselves in a brand new dedicated area which will offer an unmissable snapshot of the most innovative, new products from each category.
For the first time ever, and due to overwhelming levels of innovation, seven Equipment and Design & Tabletop finalists have been selected, bringing the total number of innovations on offer to 26.
The contenders in the Design & Tabletop category are: EveryWare Global’s ‘White Dot Anti-Scratch System’; Maffam Freeform with hanging chair ‘Manu Nest Hanging Chair’; Merlin Buffet Systems’ durable, hygienic and dishwasher safe ‘Paper Slate’; StableTable’s ‘Flip Top’ which automatically adjusts to uneven ground; Dornbracht Group’s Alape ASystem Init bathroom module system; IHS Global Alliance with ‘Showcase’, transforming buffet tables and its ‘Z-Rack’ tray storage.
Hotelympia has moved to a new four-day format and will be situated in one extended hall making it even easier for visitors to navigate the attractions without the disruption of the central boulevard. New, dedicated networking hubs will make the Hotelympia show-floor the UK’s biggest-ever hotbed of hospitality business activity.
