Intertextile Shanghai to exceed last year

With less than one month to go until the opening of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles 2015, the show is on target to surpass 2014's exhibitor figure

With less than one month to go until the opening of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles 2015, the global home textiles industry is preparing to converge on the city of Shanghai from 26 – 28 August for the region’s leading trade event. This year will see around 1,400 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions (2014: 1,334) participate, a new all-time high for the event. The fair is held for the first time at the brand-new National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) across 170,520 sqm of exhibition space. Around 46,000 trade buyers are expected to visit the show.

In recent years, the fair has expanded to cover the entire home textile product spectrum, including upholstery fabrics, bedding & towelling, carpets & rugs, wallcoverings, design artwork, digital printing, sun protection systems, non-textile curtain accessories and more. The extra space in the new venue allows exhibitors to be grouped together more effectively to make the sourcing process more efficient for buyers. All overseas exhibitors and sun protection systems & non-textile curtain accessories suppliers are to be found in the International Hall (hall 7.2), while domestic upholstery suppliers are located in halls 5.1, 5.2, 6.1, 6.2 and the West Hall, and bedding & towelling in hall 7.1.

Full home textile product spectrum from global suppliers on display
Within the International Hall, country & region pavilions from Belgium, India, Italy, Korea, Morocco, Pakistan, Taiwan and Turkey are sure to be a highlight for many buyers. Product zones in this hall include upholstery fabrics, bedding & towelling, editors, carpets & rugs, and for the first time a Whole-Home Style zone featuring exhibitors with multiple products displayed in a real-home setting. What’s more, the Intertextile Design Boutique showcases original service designs and artwork, while the debut digital printing area features suppliers from this increasingly popular sector of the industry.

On the domestic side, the Glamorous Brands Hall which showcases branded upholstery fabrics occupies hall 5.1, the Haining Pavilion can be found in hall 5.2, the Yuhang Pavilion in hall 6.1, the Shaoxing and Tongxiang Pavilions in hall 6.2, and the Binzhou, Gaoyang, Guangzhou, Nantong (including Haimen & Tongzhou), Pujiang and Wujiang Zhenze Pavilions in hall 7.1, along with the Home Experience Hall and Scientific Towels Experience zone.

Industry’s leading experts to conduct seminars
Buyers looking for design and trend inspiration and ideas, or the latest market updates, can find them in the revamped fringe programme. This year’s InterDesign trend programme is the fair’s most comprehensive offering yet, including the International Lifestyle Trend Area featuring the 2016 trends, the Trend Concept Show where eight of China’s leading designers have been matched with leading brands to bring these trends to life, while the Forum Space is where trendsetters and designers exchange their expert views. All of this is to be found in the InterDesign area in hall 7.2, while a full schedule of concurrent events is available on the fair’s website.

In addition, seminars on market information and testing & certifications also take place. This includes a presentation on the global and US home textiles markets by industry expert Warren Shoulberg, Publisher / Editorial Director of Home & Textiles Today from the US, and a seminar conducted by Olivier Ammann, Head of Business Development and Charles Nie, Head of Sales from Hohenstein Textile Testing on International Test Standards for Textiles. A full schedule can be found on the fair’s website.
