Las Vegas Market re-positions temporaries

The re-positioned and re-imagined pavilions at Las Vegas Market will debut at the Summer Market

Las Vegas Market announced today that a dramatic and expanded presentation of temporary exhibits—The Pavilions at Las Vegas Market—will debut at Summer Market, offering some 90,000 total net square feet of gift and home décor resources, organized in four categories: Design, Handmade, Home and Gift; as well as the introduction of a new category, “Discoveries – The Antique Vintage Marketplace”. The Pavilions at Las Vegas Market are scheduled to debut Sunday, August 2, to Wednesday, August 5, 2015.

“This is the next big thing for Las Vegas Market, the first U.S. market to present temporary exhibits alongside permanent showrooms but in a dedicated and purpose-built tradeshow venue,” said Dorothy Belshaw, president of Gift & Home Décor, International Market Centers. “This gives temporary exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their lines in a dramatic and easy to shop space, further strengthening and reinforcing Las Vegas Market’s position as the leading furniture, home decor and gift destination in the western United States.”

Leading gift and home décor resources are lining up to support the launch of The Pavilions at Las Vegas Market, as indicated by renewals for temporary exhibit space, which are running at the highest level ever in Las Vegas Market’s nearly 10-year history. The launch of this expanded and newly re-imagined presentation of temporary exhibits is a key component in the third and final phase of Las Vegas Market’s strategic plan, which encompasses the creation of two new showroom floors in Building C—C5 for boutique home décor, textiles and accessories, and C11, for gourmet housewares, tabletop and specialty food—and the relocation of temporary exhibits from those floors to this dedicated, free-standing venue on the Market campus.

The Pavilions will offer a vibrant and dramatic, column-free exhibit space, 50-foot ceilings, single-level access, and a comfortable, climate-controlled environment. The size and convenient location of The Pavilions will allow continued growth of temporary presentations within the broader Las Vegas Market.

“The Las Vegas Market temporary presentation at the Pavilions will create a clean, compelling and categorized exhibit offering, and will help serve as an incubator opportunity for small emerging companies, as well as firms that are not ready for either a rep or an independent showroom,” explained Belshaw. “The temporary presentation is not simply being picked up from Building C and relocated, but rather is being transformed into a cohesive and powerful presentation of trend-forward gifts, home décor, decorative accessories, personal and fashion accessories.”

Beyond traditional gift and home décor exhibitors, The Pavilions will showcase expanded Handmade and Design collections focusing on innovative resources new to the Western market. This Summer also marks the debut of “Discoveries: The Antique Vintage Marketplace,” a new temporary resource for immediate delivery, one-of-a-kind vintage, antique and found objects specifically created for retailers and designers seeking unique resources. Presented in 20,000 net square feet of exhibit space, Discoveries is expected to draw increasing numbers of buyers from museum stores, galleries and better gift shops to Las Vegas Market.

The launch of The Pavilions expands the market’s use of the Campus and plans are underway to facilitate cross-traffic between permanent showrooms and temporary exhibits. An expanded range of buyer amenities—including free grab-and-go breakfasts, greeters, special events and live music—will be positioned adjacent to the transportation center and will be equidistant from the permanent and temporary venues.

Show hours for The Pavilions at Las Vegas Market are 9am – 7pm on Sunday, August 2; 9am – 6pm on Monday, August 3, and Tuesday, August 4; and 9am – 2pm on Wednesday, August 5. Las Vegas Market showrooms in Buildings A, B and C will remain open through Thursday, August 6.

These changes represent the final phase of the Las Vegas Market’s strategic evolution into the most comprehensive buying platform for buyers in the western United States. The three-phase plan, which began in 2013, has been marked by the introduction of new product categories such as specialty tabletop, home textiles and lifestyle collections, fashion accessories and artisanal crafts, as well as expansion of existing categories and re-merchandised presentations. Since 2013, Las Vegas Market has experienced dramatic growth in the furniture, home décor and gift product categories, with 850,000 square feet of new and expanded showrooms and more than 1,200 new lines. The transformation and growth in gift and home décor categories resulted in the highest attendance numbers in Las Vegas Market’s nearly 10-year history at the recently-concluded Winter Market, with overall attendance gains of 10% from the previous year, and a colossal 21% jump in attendance in the gift and home décor category.

Highlights of the upcoming Summer Market include a celebration of the Market’s 10-year anniversary, creation of C11 – a new showroom floor for gourmet housewares, tabletop and specialty food, as well as the continuing growth of C5, another new permanent showroom floor for boutique home décor, high-end home textiles and accessories, and the repositioning and reimagining of the Market’s temporary exhibits as The Pavilions at Las Vegas Market, a dramatic, freestanding, climate controlled temporary tradeshow space showcasing some 90,000 net square feet of innovative and emerging gift and home décor resources. Summer Market also will mark the premiere of a casual furniture market in Las Vegas, with 250,000 square feet of permanent showrooms and temporary exhibit space on the 12th and 13th floors in Building C devoted to the casual/outdoor category as well as the debut of a casual furniture market in Las Vegas, with 250,000 square feet of permanent showrooms and temporary exhibit space on the 12th and 13th floors in Building C devoted to the casual/outdoor category.
