Good news - free WiFi at Ambiente 2012
Messe Frankfurt will score major brownie points with exhibitors and visitors to its shows in 2012 by offering free WiFi on site.
The WiFi will be available from January next year, and will serve all Messe Frankfurt Shows held on site at Frankfurt throughout the year.
The move will make the show organisers the first in Germany to offer free WiFi services on site, despite having paid for services available since 2004.
As the biggest consumer good fair in Europe in the year - the benefits to visitors and exhibitors attending Ambiente will be immense.
As with any free public Wifi connection, users will just need a laptop with a standard WiFi capability or a smartphone. International guests will be able to avoid expensive roaming charges, with the WiFi also serving as a great tool for business on the show floor.
Messe Frankfurt continues to offer customised WiFi solutions for exhibitors requiring greater bandwidths at their stands.
"Mobile internet access will quickly become the standard for exhibitors and visitors", comments Kai Hattendorf, Vice President of Digital Business. "In fact one in eight visitors to this year's Musikmesse installed our smartphone app on their iPhone or Android mobile."
Digital services such as apps (small mobile phone programs, including for instance the complete exhibitor catalogue, hall plans and up-to-the-minute information on the current fair) have been offered by Messe Frankfurt since 2010 to complement all of its own events. "Free access to the internet makes it even easier to use these complementary services", adds Dr. Winckler.
