NY NOW anticipates robust summer 2014 edition

Exhibit Floor expected to sell out with new, returning and expanding suppliers

Expected sell-out participation from 2,800+ new, returning and expanding suppliers of leading home and lifestyle brands signals a robust summer 2014 edition of NY NOW™, The Market for Home + Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF®).

Returning to its traditional five-day date pattern, the summer 2014 market will run Saturday, August 16, through Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal’s Pier 94.

NY NOW will feature 100,000 products in 400+ categories across its four signature collections: HOME includes Home Furnishings + Textiles, Tabletop + Gourmet Housewares and Accent on Design®; LIFESTYLE showcases Baby + Child, Gift, Personal Accessories, and Personal Care + Wellness; HANDMADE separates artisans by process and provenance with Designer Maker and Global Design; and NEW! highlights market newcomers on Pier 94.

“There is a high level of enthusiasm for and interest in the summer Market, and we’re excited to showcase a wealth of both new and returning companies in all four Market Collections,” said Christian Falkenberg, NY NOW director and GLM senior vice president. “We are welcoming back a number of key vendors, and working with many of our current exhibitors to expand their exhibit space for this August.”

Notable newcomers and returning companies among the HOME Collection’s 1,100 exhibitors on Level Three of the Javits Center this August include Bella Notte Linens, Modern History, Natural Curiosities, Noir, Oliver Gal and Pine Cone Hill within Home Furnishings + Textiles; Arte Italica, Claude Dozorme Cutlery, Fusionbrands and Tea Forte within Tabletop + Gourmet Housewares; and Creative Danes/Menu, Donna Wilson and Stelton within Accent on Design®.

These new and returning companies join industry-leading HOME Collection anchors: Atipico, Joseph Joseph, Lenox, Mariposa, Match, Michael Aram, Matouk, Mr. Brown/Julian Chichester, Pablo, Roost, Tom Dixon, Vagabond Vintage and many others.

On Level One of the Javits Center, the LIFETSYLE Collection's 1300 exhibitors will include a wealth of newcomers and returning exhibitors, including: Kid Kusion, Lucy Darling, Mini Maniacs, SoYoung Inc., Swankie Blankie, The Daisy Baby, Wee Gallery and Zoli within Baby + Child; 1Canoe2 Letterpress, Blue Mountain Arts, Common Ground, High Intencity, Maison Chic, and Marc Tetro within Gift; Anjolie Ayurveda, La Lavande and Tatine Candles within Personal Care + Wellness; Anna Balkan Jewelry, Carrie Dunham, and SSD Jewelry within Personal Accessories.

While the bulk of the newcomers to NY NOW’s HANDMADE Collection will be announced in late April following jury review and selection of new applicants, a number of key artisans will return to the Market in August.

Within HANDMADE Designer Maker, Lisa Neimeth Ceramics, Nelles Studio, Patrick Meyer Studio and Smartwork will rejoin current exhibitors like Chikahisa Studio, Lois Arnow Porcelain, Peg & Awl and Stinson Studios; and within HANDMADE Global Design, Barro En Mis Manos, Chopstick Art and Mushmina will return to the summer Market alongside Creative Women, MBare Ltd and Shupaca.

Beyond exhibits, a four-day slate of educational seminars and special events will be offered to complement market activities. More than 20 seminars will cover a range of topics, including color and design trends, importing, digital marketing and social media, visual merchandising marketing and other retail strategies.

Sponsors and presenters include representatives from leading media outlets, as well as support from industry associations including ART (The Creative Home Furnishings Network), CRAFT (Craft Retailers & Artists for Tomorrow), Fashion Group International and IFDA (International Furnishings & Design Association).

Special events held in conjunction with the summer market will include Gifts and Decorative Accessories’ 63rd Annual Retailer Excellence Awards recognising individual and retail achievement on Sunday, August 17; as well as NY NOW’s renowned “Night on Broadway,” featuring specially-priced tickets a popular Broadway musical on Tuesday, August 19.
