Top Drawer bursary award shortlist announced

New talent shortlist for prestigious COADG bursary award at Top Drawer includes homewares with Giannina Capitani and ceramics with Sophie Southgate

For the fourth consecutive year, Top Drawer has partnered with Katie Treggiden to run the 2016 confessions of a design geek bursary.

With Top Drawer and industry influencer Katie Treggiden sharing a rich history of discovering and nurturing new talent, this annual partnership is fast becoming one of the shows must-see exhibits. 

Following a call for entries in September, Top Drawer and Katie Treggiden have announced the shortlist which was selected by an esteemed panel of industry experts, which included Joseph Joseph, Mini Moderns and West Elm.

The shortlist for the 2016 confessions of a design geek bursary award features Giannina Capitani (homewares), Justine Ellis (homewares), Marta Bordes (lighting), Max Cairns (homewares), Novocastrian (furniture) and Sophie Southgate (ceramics).

"Confessions of a design geek was established in 2010 to discover, champion and inspire new designers. The bursary, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a new designer to kick start their career worth over £10K, is one of the most important things we do every year." Last year the competition drew in a staggering 16,404 public votes, which declared Alicja Patanowska the winner. “Winning the bursary has been a wonderful adventure - I’ve met a number of industry professionals, and without their help, I wouldn’t have been able to establish my brand so well and raise the standards in all the aspects of my business activity.” 2015 winner Alicja Patanowska

Voting is now open to the public. To vote go to Voting closes at 11.45 pm on Sunday 29 November 2015. The winner will be announced on Monday 30 November 2015.
