Possible new future for derelict pottery factory

A UK derelict pottery site could be given a new lease of life, after local arts groups have expressed ‘serious interest’ in re-vamping the former TG Green pottery in Derbyshire.

It is understood plans have been submitted to South Derbyshire’s District Council, which involve demolishing two thirds of the site, leaving the Grade II listed kilns intact and clearing the surrounding buildings.

Plans from the Pipework Project involve transforming the former pottery into t a state of the art £10million media centre, finding a use for virtually all of the buildings on the seven-acre site.

A arts group says it has expressed ‘serious interest’ in turning a historic pottery into a £10million media centre, after an application for the factory’s demolition was submitted. The project is focused on retaining and respecting the historic parts of the pottery to re-develop and build to make the site of valued use.
