Riedel hosts Harrods event

Internationally recognised glassware specialists Riedel this week hosted a wine tasting event in the new tasting room in Harrods, to showcase their latest red wine collection.

The 'Vinum XL' collection was showcased to member of consumer and trade press, and showcased the grape-specific collection and its benefits for the consumption of red wine.

The event was hosted in the new tasting room on site in the wine department of the world famous luxury department store in the heart of London. Hosted by Maximillian Riedel, the 11th generation of the famed family brand the event followed those of earlier this week where the range made its debut tasting in Scotland.

The glasses were used to demonstrate the effectiveness of using grape specific glasses to enhance the contents and showcase the flavours for the best taste. In addition to its effectiveness on wine, interestingly the glasses were also tested with Hildon branded water, in which tastes varied as sips were taken from different glasses.

Speaking at the event, Maximillian Riedel said: "Business is currently booming, and we are experiencing double-digit growth. The recession is not yet showing its strength. We have a long standing and very successful relationship with Harrods and I am delighted to see a great reaction to our latest collection here."

The 'XL Vinum' range is one of Riedel's most popular by, far, outselling others four to one. The company are understood to speak to over 150'000 people annually directly through their worldwide tasting experiences to educate them on the importance of the glass in the wine drinking experience.
