Alessi unveils Delta Airlines collection
After announcing its partnership with Delta Airlines last year, Alessi introduces the new collection of service products and tableware
Alessi has partnered with Delta Airlines to curate a modern, stylish and functional collection of service products and tableware, inspired by its designer retail lines. The collection will appear in-flight from 1st April 2017.
Known for its innovative design, Alessi will bring its one-of-a-kind pieces to Delta’s premium cabins, including Delta One, First Class and, in late 2017, Delta Premium Select.
This marks the first time the design company has produced such a comprehensive offering for a major airline.. The Alessi for Delta products include flatware, crystal glassware, new bone china, stainless steel serving pieces and tabletop accessories, such as napkin rings and salt and pepper shakers, as well as serviceware and trays.
“I admire Delta’s decision to continue to redesign and elevate the on-board experience and I’m proud that Alessi is part of this enhancement,” says Matteo Alessi, Chief Commercial Officer Europe and North America.
The collection is based on popular items created and inspired by six of the 300 renowned designers that make up the Alessi catalogue. The contributors include Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Patricia Urquiola, Campana Brothers, Stefano Giovannoni, Miriam Mirri and Kristiina Lassus.
“When you design for an airline there are several aspects to be considered and all of them are important,” said Alberto Alessi, President of Alessi. “The most challenging step was finding the right balance between design and function while ensuring safety on board.”
In November 2015, Delta announced its partnership with Alessi to develop an extensive line of serviceware for Delta’s premium cabins. Since then, the teams have developed, designed and tested the new service items in flight.
