Anchor Hocking to expand US factory
US glass giants Anchor Hocking have announced plans to expand their existing factory in western Pennsylvania USA to cater for an increase in production.
The expansion is understood to be panned to cater for the company's new line of canning jars for retailer Wal-Mart.
It is understood EveryWare Global Inc. plans to spend $1.8 million to expand its Anchor Hocking plant, enabling the plant to create the jars.
The company says the expansion is fuelled by Wal-Mart's recent promise to buy $50 billion worth of U.S. manufactured goods in the next decade.
Anchor Hocking was founded in 1905 and has been selling products to Wal-Mart for 25 years. The company has about 1,800 employees in the United States it is hoped the new expansion will see an increase in staff.
