DGAD imposes ADD on ceramics from China

Anti dumping duty of $1.04/kilo has been imposed on Chinese ceramic tableware and kitchenware imported being imported to the US

DGAD has imposed a provisional dumping duty on Ceramic Tableware and Kitchenware, excluding knives and toilet items imported from China PR, according to the Dollar Business Bureau.

In a notification issued on June 12, the Customs specifies that due to the material injury caused by the dumping of ceramic tableware and kitchenware below its normal value, it has recommended the imposition of provisional anti-dumping duty of $1.04 per kilo on the same. The ADD imposed will be for a period of six months only unless otherwise notified.

The All India Pottery Manufacturers’ Association (AIPMA) and the Indian Ceramic Society had filed an application before the DGAD on Oct 13, 2016, alleging dumping of ceramic tableware and kitchenware below its normal value.

Of the total $22.07 million worth of ceramic tableware and kitchenware imported into India, China’s imports take up a whopping $20.09 million in 2016-17.
