Rare antique Tiffany & Co Chrysanthemum and Lenox sterling silver and porcelain coffee service valued at $68,500
Tiffany & Co. and Lenox Corporation, two of the most renowned American names in sterling silver and porcelain, collaborated to design an exquisite one-of-a-kind silver-gilt and porcelain coffee service circa 1906.
The service was recently valued at $68,500 and sold for an undisclosed price.
The Tiffany & Co. Chrysanthemum & Lenox Coffee Service stored in its original silk-lined box, was crafted under the leadership of Charles T. Cook in the beloved Chrysanthemum pattern.
Signature flowers adorn every piece from the coffee pot to the porcelain cups and this extraordinarily rare 29 piece set shows off the intricate blooms in both Tiffany-styled engraved silver-gilt as well as intricately cast pierced cup holders. Hand-applied gilded flowers adorn the inside border of each porcelain cup with raised detailing adding additional artistry and elegance to each piece.
This rare coffee service features the artistry of skilled artisans from two iconic American companies known for the highest quality and exquisite craftsmanship.
Tiffany & Co, founded in 1837 and Lenox Corporation, founded in 1889, formed a fortuitous partnership at the turn of the 20th century and from there, a brilliant history was created. The coffee service, now a truly rare and valuable antique, is an exemplary example of how both companies have been, and still are, at the forefront of designing product that ensures Americans will be entertaining in style for years to come.
