Burleigh inundated with royal mug orders
The HRH Princess Charlotte mug from British heritage brand Burleigh is proving more popular than her older brother's mug
Historic Staffordshire pottery Burleigh is working flat out to cover orders placed for its commemorative mug.
HRH Princess Charlotte may be the younger sister, but it seems that pieces commemorating her birth are proving to be more popular than those created for her older brother HRH Prince George.
British heritage brand Burleigh has already sold more mugs to commemorate the birth of HRH Princess Charlotte in the two weeks following her birth than the same period for her older brother and what’s more, orders are flooding in from overseas.
Sebastian Lazell, Managing Director of Burleigh, said: “Our customers have gone Charlotte crazy and we’ve noticed much stronger interest in our mugs
made for the new Princess than those for her older brother. What’s more, we are getting orders from not just the U.K., but from around the World.”
He continued: “More and more customers are choosing Burleigh as they appreciate both our heritage and the fact that we still make our products
by hand using traditional methods. They love the authenticity of ‘Made in England’ too.”
Well known ceramics expert Steven Moore (of the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow) added: “it was predicted that there would be less interest in a second
Royal baby for TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and some manufacturers were cautious. It seems the World has taken HRH Princess Charlotte to their heart. With less pieces produced, they could well become collectors’ items.”
Apart from U.K. sales, orders for the Royal mug have been received from France, Germany, America and Japan. The Japanese order being the biggest,
by far. Other countries are expected to place orders too.
The Burleigh Royal Baby Mug is available now and priced at £15 and can be reserved from www.burleigh.co.uk/royalbabymug. Each mug is hand printed in
a pale pink with Burleigh’s “Prunus” design and the words: “A New Princess” and includes her full name “Charlotte Elizabeth Diana” and her date of
