Chamberlain commemorates Queen's 90th

Chamberlain & Co has were given the honour of creating a unique and spectacular presentation piece for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's 90th birthday

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II recently became the longest-serving monarch in British history, eclipsing the record of her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, and this year she celebrates her ninetieth birthday.

On 11 June 2016 her official birthday was celebrated with a variety of commemorative events across the country. In London, the splendid royal barge Gloriana led a dazzling flotilla of vessels along the River Thames, while in the city of Worcester an equally colourful flotilla made its way along the River Severn in commemoration of this memorable day.

In honour of the Queen’s birthday, Chamberlain & Co were given the proud honour of being commissioned to create a unique and spectacular presentation piece truly worthy of this momentous occasion.

The elegant fine bone china Elmley Bowl, more than a foot in diameter, has been decorated with a hand-painted central image of the iconic Worcester Cathedral, a symbol of the city and the backdrop to the route that will be taken by the birthday flotilla. The border of the bowl is taken from our classic George III collection, a suitably royal design in cobalt blue and 22k gold, and features three unique vignettes celebrating Worcestershire’s rich history and heritage: Broadway Tower, the Edgar Tower in the Cathedral Precinct, and the coat of arms of the City of Worcester.

This breathtaking bowl was presented to the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Lt Col. Patrick Holcroft LVO OBE, HM The Queen’s personal representative in the county, by Colin Kinnear OBE, Chairman of Chamberlain & Co, during the Worcestershire Flotilla on 11 June, on behalf of the people of Worcestershire.
