This year, Crystalex CZ, s.r.o. celebrates the anniversary of 5 years since restarting its production. In these five years, the Czech glass manufacturer has come a long way, earning itself a stable position in the market, and gaining financially, with a steady turnover from 570 million CZK in 2010 to 960 million CZK in 2014. This year, it is expected that the company will exceed 1 billion CZK.
Today, some 90 per cent of production is exported to more than 60 countries worldwide.
The modern history of Crystalex began in the second half of 2009, when the factory was purchased by new owners. In January 2010, the first furnace started its production, with glassmaking returned to Novy Bor once more, closely followed by the second furnace firing in June of the same year. 2011 gave birth to four series - Viola and Sandra with their plain stem lines and Victoria and Gloria with their decoratively-shaped stems, all of which have proved very successful.
The following year saw innovations with new lines and decorations, including the offering of the age-old technique of pantograph etching, as well as diamond engraving, painting, spraying, screen-printing, decals and sandblasting. New series were also born in 2012 - Giselle, Cindy, Elisabeth, as well as a complex product line, BAR.
2013 saw an additional furnace and three new production lines, increasing capacity by 50 per cent, as well as enabling the production of larger items, such as vases, bowls and decanting carafes. The year also gave birth to unique stemware series Turbulence, offering faster decantation of wine, as well as new suites Jive and Lilly and the brand's special beer programme BAR BEER. This year also saw the HoReCa programme launch.
Last year saw an entirely new exclusive brand family of Crystalex, Classical Collection, represented by the lines Grandiose and Amoroso, as well the launch of the Waterfall range, an enlargement of the Sandra suite, and many new decorations.
At the beginning of this year, a new melting tank activation took place to allow further production, and this year sees three new product lines - Kate, Rebecca and Grace, as well as a collection of new decorations. You can see all of Crystalex's collections and decorations, as well as its latest ranges, on its new and improved stand (pictured) at Ambiente, from February 13-17. Visit them in Hall 4.2, Stand J81.
