Dudson appoints new chairman

Hospitality tableware manufacturer Dudson announces the appointment of its new chairman

Dudson, the hospitality tableware manufacturer, is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin McCourt as its new Chairman. Martin, the CEO of Dyson for 15 years, will replace Ian Dudson as he retires from the role.

Martin has spent 40 years working at the heart of British-based manufacturing and when he was Dyson CEO, he devised and implemented a strategy that transformed the company from a single product, single market producer into one where 80 percent of the business now comes from over 60 markets around the world.

He is now is excited to be helping the eighth and ninth generations of the Dudson family with their ambitious company growth plans. Founded in 1800, Dudson continues to build on more than 200 years of ceramics experience with worldwide exports and more than 400 employees at its Stoke-on-Trent Headquarters.

Following a £3m investment boost from BGF in 2014, Dudson has continued to invest in new equipment to increase output, along with additional stock holdings in two of its most popular ranges - Evo and Harvest. Demand for both ranges continues to grow worldwide across all hospitality sectors and the company plans to build on this demand with the introduction of new items in both ranges in a new product launch at the NRA, Chicago.

Dudson CEO, Max Dudson explains further, "We have ambitious growth plans to expand sales of our tableware into new territories and we are delighted to welcome Martin into the fold. His experience will prove invaluable to our Board as he has a proven track record of successfully expanding British manufactured products into new markets."

Martin McCourt added, "Dudson has a rich and long history of manufacturing ceramic products and exporting them the world over. Its latest Evo and Harvest tableware ranges are desirable in a number of overseas markets and the company has up-scaled its operations accordingly. I am relishing the opportunity to implement a rigorous international growth strategy for Dudson products to capitalise on this demand."

In addition to Dudson, Martin is also the Chairman of Glen Dimplex Company - the world’s largest manufacturer of electrical heating; and The Learning Curve Group, an organization providing vocational education and training programmes to a wide range of learners and employers.

The BGF Talent Network is a group comprising senior and successful business people that provides support to companies that have received investment capital from BGF, and it was this network that was responsible for the introduction of Martin to Dudson.
