Duralex celebrates its 70th birthday
The French tempered glass specialist turns 70 this year and re-releases emblematic range Manhattan
Offering consumers a new, high performance, excellent quality product at a competitive price... That was the motivation behind the first tempered glass manufacturing tests by the Saint-Gobain Group in 1939, followed by a patent for applied crockery manufacturing procedure, with the creation of the Duralex brand on 6th June 1945.
Renowned for their mechanical and heat resistance, Duralex products have also resisted trends and fashions.
The products have always been made in France and the brand enjoys great popularity. It is in fine form as it celebrates its 70th birthday with identical positioning to its standing at the very origins of its revolutionary "everyday glassware".
Duralex is perpetuating the pioneering spirit of its beginnings through innovations for storing food and now with the Ovenchef range of ovenware.
Finally, to celebrate its 70th birthday, Duralex is rereleasing an emblematic range: the Manhattan tumblers for fabulous cocktails (22cl, 31cl and 30.5cl).
A registered trademark since 1945, Duralex is synonymous with durability. A specialist in tempered glass technology, Duralex has its plant in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, near Orléans (to the south of Paris). It sells over 300 products: glasses, plates, oven dishes, salad bowls and other table accessories available in different colours. The company began its international development in the 1960s and currently generates 85% of its revenues in exports.
