Gucci debuts homeware

Italian fashion house Gucci has launched homeware line Gucci Decor, with some items from Richard Ginori, including porcelain tableware, candles and incense trays

Italian fashion house Gucci has launched Gucci Decor, its first foray into the home category, with an eclectic collection of items. In a press release, the fashion house says, “the idea is not to prescribe a particular decorative look, but to prove elements that allow for living spaces to be customised”.

In addition to cushions, chairs, screens, wallpaper, folding tables and metal trays featuring strong colours and prints, pieces will include the finest porcelain items courtesy of Richard Ginori, the Florentine porcelain specialist founded in 1735, which is owned by Gucci.

With access to the skills of this historic porcelain factory, Alessandro Michele, creative director of Gucci and Richard Ginori, has designed a range of distinctive, patterned crockery, featuring notable design details including the green and white Herbarium floral print, geometric chevrons, and animals from the Gucci Garden - bees, butterflies and cockerel heads - which are rendered and attached to pots of porcelain scented candles.

Porcelain scented candles, incense trays and tableware are due out in the Fall and will roll-out in Gucci flagship stores, as well as select boutiques.
