John Lewis confirms two autumn openings
John Lewis set to open two new stores in the UK – as anchor tenant in Leeds’ retail and dining offer Victoria Gate in October and as part of the Bond Street development in Chelmsford in September
This autumn will see two new John Lewis stores open in the UK, both part of new developments in different parts of the country.
Alongside the wider Bond Street development in Chelmsford, Essex, John Lewis will open its doors to customers for the first time at 9.30am on Thursday 29 September.
John Lewis Chelmsford's 90,000 sq ft shop represents an £18m investment in Chelmsford by the retailer. As well as offering more than 65,000 fashion, beauty, home and electrical products, the shop will bring together the retailer's best services, including a beauty treatment room, a Foreign Exchange bureau and a Nursery Advice service. Customers will also be able to take advantage of John Lewis's click & collect facility and benefit from 20 minutes free parking in the Bond Street car parks.
Laura Rawstron, branch manager, John Lewis Chelmsford says: 'I'm thrilled to be able to confirm that John Lewis Chelmsford will open on Thursday 29 September. The business has had ambition to open a shop in Essex for some time now, and the Bond Street development couldn't be a better proposition for us.
Then, Thursday 20 October, 2016, will see the opening of John Lewis in Leeds – it will be the anchor tenant in Victoria Gate, a £165 million development in Leeds.
Set to transform the city's aspirational retail, dining and leisure offer, Victoria Gate will become part of the new 53,400m2 (575,000 sq ft) Victoria Estate shopping district, which also includes Leeds' Victoria Quarter arcades.
Anchored by a flagship John Lewis, other retailers will include Russell & Bromley, Aspinal of London, Hackett, Tommy Hilfiger and Anthropologie.
James Prince, head of branch at John Lewis Leeds, says: “I can't wait for John Lewis Leeds to open its doors for the first time. It's our most service and experiential led shop to date, as we continue to offer more for customers that can't be replicated online. My new team of Partners are really looking forward to serving the people of Leeds and welcoming everyone on opening day.”
