John Lewis Home sales up
A slight rise in John Lewis Home’s weekly sales figures is down to seasonal events remaining strong, with Easter 2017 forecast to be strong
John Lewis has reported a slight rise in its latest weekly sales figures, despite its home division experiencing an overall decline.
According to its sales for the week to 18 March 2017, total sales rose by 0.4 per cent at £75.3m on last year, with trade continuing to be influenced by seasonal events including Mother’s Day and Easter.
Within its categories, Home sale suffered a 1.6 per cent decline against strong Easter sales that took place at the same time last year, indicating that John Lewis expects sales to perform well when Easter arrives this year.
Fashion was the only category that performed with positive figures, as sales grew by 4.8 per cent. Electrical sales experienced a fall of 2 per cent.
