Joseph Joseph wins awards
Leading British kitchenware brand garners numerous International Design Awards
Joseph Joseph, a leading kitchenware designer and manufacturer, recently received three prestigious international awards for excellence in product design, quality and innovation. The company garnered a Global Innovation Award (GIA) last month for its Twin-cut Compact 2-in-1 Scissors; a Red Dot Award for its Edge™ glass brush; and an iF Award for its TriScale™ folding digital scale. These awards are among the most coveted honors in the product design community, and their receipt is representative of Joseph Joseph’s ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence.
The GIA Global Innovation Awards, sponsored by the International Housewares Association, were presented during the March International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago. The winning products – including the Twin-cut – were selected for their inspired design quality, outstanding craftsmanship and brand positioning, among other criteria. The panel of judges for this invitation-only competition included specialty retailers, consumer editors, independent designers, and other design experts. In addition to garnering the award, Joseph Joseph’s Twin-cut scissors, which have a unique, streamlined design that functions as both scissors and a box cutter, were displayed alongside more than 100 exhibitors from around the world in the Discover Design Gallery located in McCormick Place at the Housewares Show.
Additionally, Joseph Joseph received a Red Dot Award, an internationally renowned honor reserved for only the best and most intelligently designed products. The company’s Edge™ glass brush was selected as a winner from among thousands of other products entered by manufacturers, designers and architects from more than 50 nations, earning the company its 9th Red Dot award in seven years. The Edge™ glass brush won as a result of its outstanding design, which includes a non-slip resting point that enables it to be stored on the inside edge of a sink, thereby saving space and allowing excess water and soap suds to drain neatly away.
For the first time this year Joseph Joseph entered the acclaimed iF awards as well, which have been globally recognized as the consummate mediator between the design and business communities for more than 60 years. The three iF awards – for product design, communication design and packaging design – are representative of current design trends and the economic benefits that result from well-designed products. The TriScale™ bested more than 3,200 entries in the product design category, and was recognized for its ingenuity and numerous distinctive design features, including an extremely compact profile, touch-sensitive controls and a convenient Add & Weigh function.
“Thus far, this year has proven to be a very propitious one for the company, and we are honored to have received three such esteemed awards,” said Richard Joseph, Managing Director for Joseph Joseph. “Everyone here at Joseph Joseph works very hard to design and produce outstanding products, and being recognised for that work is both humbling and gratifying. We look forward to continuing our commitment to excellent product design and quality.”
