US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker presented Julia Knight with the President’s E Award for Exports at a ceremony in Washington, DC on May 16, 2016. The President’s E Award is the highest recognition any US entity can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of US exports.
“Julia Knight has demonstrated a sustained commitment to export expansion. The E Awards Committee was very impressed with Julia Knight’s unique and creative serveware products,” said Secretary Pritzker in her congratulatory letter to the company announcing its selection as an award recipient.
“The company’s dedication to expanding sales in export markets was also particularly notable. Julia Knight’s achievements have undoubtedly contributed to national export expansion efforts that support the U.S. Economy and create American jobs.”

“Exporting is vital to our business and sales growth, and we are honored to receive the “E” Award,” says Julia Knight. “We are proud of what our company is doing to support the American export economy.”
Sebastien Tavenas, Vice President of Global Sales and General Manager, adds, “Our export sales have grown phenomenally over the last 5 years. Exporting is a significant percent of our total sales and our combined successes.”
In 1961, President Kennedy signed an executive order reviving the World War II E symbol of excellence to honour and provide recognition to America's exporters. Today, Secretary Pritzker honoured US companies from each state with the President’s E Award for their outstanding work to reduce barriers to foreign markets and to open the door to more trade around the world.
In 2015, US exports totalled $2.23 trillion, accounting for nearly 13 per cent of U.S. GDP. Nationally, exports contributed to the U.S. economy, supporting an estimated 11.5 million jobs.
