Kosta Boda celebrates 275 years

Swedish glass manufacturers Kosta Boda is this year celebrating 275 years – an era of Swedish industrial history

The Kosta glassworks – named for its founders, Generals Koskull and Stael von Holstein, Ko + Sta – opened its doors on July 26, 1742.

Since that day, technology and expertise in glass has been refined in the Swedish forest province of Smaland where Kosta Boda is based. Courage and determination have been the hallmarks of the company and its staff from the start, with qualities such as cooperation, perseverance, dexterity, craftsmanship, inventiveness and artistic flair, carrying the brand into the 21st century.

Kosta Boda’s products will continue to be crafted out of the glassworks of Smaland, designed for any and all occasions, defined by Swedish mettle and always keeping a finger on the pulse of the times.

In honour of Kosta Boda’s 275th anniversary, Kosta Boda invites you into its world of colours and craftsmanship. 2017 will be a year of festivities, with Kosta Boda celebrating its heritage and craft with new pieces of art glass, new designers, and anniversary editions of design classics. The company will be arranging gala events and colourful exhibitions worldwide to celebrate its cultural heritage.
