Top Drawer's COADG bursary award announced
Marta Bordes wins Top Drawer's prestigious Confession of a Design Geek Award 2016
Top Drawer is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2016 confession of a design geek (COADG) bursary is Marta Bordes, who came out on top of the public vote hosted by Katie Treggiden’s award winning design blog.
As part of the prize, Marta Bordes will be exhibiting her designs at Top Drawer from 17-19 January at London Olympia, offering press and buyers a great opportunity to see Marta's striking Satelite Lamp creations and meet her in person.
"With a background in architecture I approached ceramics as an outsider, looking at it from an unbiased perspective, questioning its applications and its limits. The whole set provides an effect of weightlessness that intrigues the viewer. It really makes an impact because it is unexpected but so simple and visual that everyone engages with it at first sight," says Marta Bordes.
For the fourth consecutive year, Top Drawer have partnered with Katie Treggiden to run the 2016 COADG bursary. Marta’s prize, worth over £10K, includes a photography shoot, PR, marketing and business mentoring, a complimentary stand at Top Drawer, a product showcase at the Barbican Centre shop, a one-week pop-up shop at West Elm, and promotional material from moo.com.
With Top Drawer and industry influencer Katie Treggiden sharing a rich history of discovering and nurturing new talent, this annual partnership is fast becoming one of the shows must-see exhibits.
