Nude teams up with Joe Doucet
Renowned designer Joe Doucet collaborates with boutique glass brand Nude on statement-making barware pieces
Designer, inventor and creative director, Joe Doucet, has teamed up with Nude, the boutique brand of Turkish glass manufacturer Pasabahce, to create a unique collection which reflects both his aesthetic and Nude's philosophy that simple is beautiful.
Doucet is a designer who reaches across the disciplines: technology, jewellery, architecture, furniture and products innovation. His work flaunts a functional, yet aesthetic, design style that can adapt across all genres. His unique innovation and keen talent has also been recognised by a 2010 World Technology Award and two Good Design Awards in 2012 and 2008.
The collaboration has resulted in two giftable barware pieces with a focus on whiskey.
Alba by Joe Doucet for Nude (pictured)
Alba is Gaelic for Scotland, the collection pays tribute to the spiritual home of whisky. The elegant glasses are punctuated by a hand-engraved and cleverly deconstructed Tartan pattern. Each glass is heavy-bottomed, and each carefully tapers towards the brim, holding in the subtle aromas. The decanters, also incorporating the ingenious tartan etching, are punctuated by a unique stopper which leans omni-directionally, inviting the more dedicated whisky lover to point the stopper in the direction of Scotland.Camp by Joe Doucet for Nude
The Camp collection consists of a decanter and two matching glasses. The glasses are beautifully refined, both heavy-bottomed to feel satisfying in the hand. The decanter has been designed to deliberately reflect a traditional hip flask, an item often passed around a roaring campfire. The integrated brass X coasters at the base of all the items suggest the warmth emanating from burning logs, not dissimilar to the feeling imparted from a sip of great whisky. The result is a stylish and imaginative collection, full of character and originality.
