Reiko's terracotta range now online
British-Japanese designer Reiko Kaneko's Terracotta range developed with SCP is now available via Reiko's online shop
This month British-Japanese designer Reiko Kaneiko is excited to announce that Reiko Kaneko's Terracotta range developed with SCP is now available via her online shop.
These beautifully designed pieces continue Reiko’s theme of pairing contemporary design with long standing traditional process.
The range is inspired by ancient utiliterian ceramics and the honesty embodied by those forms. The collection comprises a tall pitcher, a large flat platter, large bowl and tumblers. Finished with an opaque glaze, each design is made by hand and is therefore unique, giving these designs an idiosyncratic beauty all their own.
The forms are taller, wider and thinner than are the norm for hand thrown terracotta, and the contrast of the glaze with the rich earthy red tones of the terracotta makes a beautiful backdrop to colourful fresh ingredients.
Reiko's Terracotta range, which also includes plates and bowls in three size and glaze options, was shortlisted for a prestigious Homes & Gardens Designer Award 2015.

This season, the studio have also introduced a brand new limited edition range of Studio Line Glazes. The range includes one offs and small batches of specially glazed pieces based Reiko's existing Rin, Bamboo, Arctic and Mug ranges. It is the result of the continual process of glaze testing taking place in the studio.
Made from Fine Bone China, the range has been produced with layered reactive glazes, combining beauty, uniqueness and functionality
The Desert Landscape series is part of the collection of landscape inspired glazes. For this pairing Reiko developed a new semi-matt finish on the top portion of the forms, creating an unusual - yet still fully practical - finish not normally found on bone china, that contrasts with the glossy iron orange base.
