Riedel partners with AIDS Foundation

Riedel Crystal unveils the Amadeo Double Magnum Rainbow Decanter with €25,000 donated to the Elton John Aids Foundation

Riedel Crystal announced yesterday that its new Amadeo Double Magnum Rainbow Decanter will be sold in aid of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. There will be a limited edition of 50 decanters produced worldwide, with Riedel donating 25,000(EUR) from the sales to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Elton John says: 'The rainbow has so many wonderful associations - from hope and promise to inclusion and tolerance. We are delighted and honoured that Riedel is donating funds from this beautiful piece to support the work of the Elton John AIDS Foundation; funds we can use to promote compassion in the fight against HIV and support services that will bring us closer to an AIDS free future."

Maximilian J. Riedel, 11th generation CEO and president of Riedel Crystal, explains his motivation for the choice of colours and design for the new decanter.

“We create products for a segment of the glass sector that is all about culinary delights, enjoyment and a refined lifestyle. Nevertheless, we must not forget that there is also another side to life. Today we are faced with the dark side of this world – even within the circle of our own friends and through the news that we are forced to see every day. We are all called to help, and to promote all that is good in this world. This is why I feel a desire to make a statement with the Amadeo Double Magnum decanter”.

The Amadeo Double Magnum Rainbow is mouthblown in the Kufstein glassworks, expertly handcrafted to display the colours of the rainbow and sharing the same elegant form as a harp.

About the Elton John AIDS Foundation
The Elton John AIDS Foundation (est. 1992) is one of the world’s leading international not-for-profit organisations working year round to support those affected by HIV. We believe AIDS can be beaten and work alongside a range of local projects, organisations, government officials, celebrity patrons and brand partners to make this a reality. In the last 25 years, via a range of fundraising initiatives, we have raised more than £275 million and use these funds to fund frontline programmes that help to alleviate the pain of those living with, affected by or at risk of HIV/AIDS. As a Foundation, our primary objectives are to prevent infection, provide treatment, end discrimination and drive social and political change.
