RKW invests in retail
Midlands-based firm creates hundreds of new jobs whilst making significant investment in the future of UK retail
Europe’s leading distributor of electrical and housewares products RKW has announced that it has exchanged contracts on the purchase of the former Royal Doulton/Wedgewood Global Distribution Centre in Stone Staffordshire.
The £20m distribution centre will become the Global Fulfilment centre for RKW and will create 260 new jobs.
The company, which is part of Sutton Venture Group and was founded in 1989, owns several major brands including Tower, Akai, Carmen, Pifco and Warmlite, as well as licensing the Morphy Richards brand for cookware and housewares with more than 3,000 product lines in its portfolio.
Rob Sutton, managing director of RKW, commented: “We are making a significant investment in the future of the business. From humble beginnings we have achieved phenomenal successes and we are now ensuring we have the infrastructure in place as we plan for future growth. It was essential the business consolidated its operating bases to remain efficient and the new 250,000 sq ft facility will ensure we continue to accommodate the demands of our customers.”
Set to be operational in the Spring of 2014 the new distribution centre will be one of the most advanced in the country. www.rkwltd.com
