Rosenthal partners with Eataly at Expo 2015
Together with Sambonet Paderno, Rosenthal will equip the restaurants of Italian gourmet food chain Eataly on the grounds of Expo 2015
Together with Sambonet Paderno, Rosenthal is equipping the restaurants of Italian gourmet food chain Eataly with custom-made porcelain, cutlery and professional kitchen equipment on the grounds of EXPO in Milan.
At EXPO 2015, which will run in the north Italian fashion capital until 31 October 2015, Eataly will operate a total of 14 restaurants representing the different geographic and culinary regions of Italy with more than 1,500 seats on an area covering 16,000 square metros.
In addition to the regular operation of the restaurants, Eataly will organise four large gala dinners. The guests at the exclusive evening meals will be spoiled with fine, regional Italian cuisine served on Rosenthal dinner plates, soup dishes and dessert plates.
The plates (pictured) are adorned with a motif showing the tree of life and numerous plants and animals. A closer look reveals a tree growing out of the upside-down geographic outline of Italy. The motif accompanies the slogan for this year’s EXPO, “Feeding the Planet – Energy for Life”, which will shine the spotlight on the topics of sustainability and the use of resources in particular. The table arrangement will be completed by the elegant Hannah cutlery series from Sambonet, which received the Compasso d’Oro award back in 1994. Paderno, the Italian market leader for hotel and gastronomy equipment, will also equip the restaurant chefs with a wide range of professional cooking pots, pans and kitchen utensils for daily use.
In August 2009, Rosenthal GmbH became part of the Sambonet Paderno Group, the Italian market leader in the production of high-end designer products for the table and kitchen, as well as for private households and the hotel sector. The company will provide around 3,000 plates in total for EXPO. Eataly is synonymous with high-quality, regional Italian gourmet food products, was founded in 2007 by entrepreneur Oscar Farinetti and is also represented in New York, Tokyo and Munich with its concept of gourmet food stores and restaurants.
