About Royal Oak cutlery, Studio William
Hidden beneath the handles of Royal Oak Mirror is a reference to the historical 'Kings Pattern'. This motif can be displayed on the table in the European style, or liad in hte convential manner, concealing the pattern like the King himse. The Royal Oak is the name given to the oak tree in which Charles II of England sought to hide to escape the roundheads during the battle of Worcester in 1651. An ancient oak, which is thought to be from an acorn from the original still stands at Boscobel in Shropshire.
