The UK’s largest supplier of tableware to foodservice, Utopia, has launched a new edition of the highly popular ‘What’s on the Menu?’ for autumn/winter 2016. The downloadable guide hand-picks emerging trends for the year ahead, highlighting quirky, innovative and exciting new tableware products to help outlets meet these developments, head-on.
In total eight Autumn/Winter trends are earmarked with innovative profit-making product suggestions included to help UK sites take full advantage. Highlights include the rise of Cold Brew Coffee, Craft Cider, Mexican Food, Monster Milkshakes and more.
Here, marketing director for Utopia, Kathryn Oldershaw, takes a look at two key findings, offering a glimpse of what’s to come.
“The timeless glamour of Hollywood is permeating a UK cocktail market already enjoying large-scale growth, while adding a more grown up, premium feel in contrast to the wilder side of Tiki mugs and sharer fishbowls. Free of garnishes and gimmicks, with a focus on stronger flavours, we have seen the market gravitating towards vintage, Hollywood-styles with bars such as Mr Fogg’s in Mayfair, Nightjar in Shoreditch and Hockley Arts Club in Nottingham, pushing the boundaries and creating more innovate serves to entice adventurous drinkers, thirsty for difference.
“Harnessing nostalgia on cocktail menus is a sure fire way to keep people coming back for more but it stands to reason that if you go to the trouble of recreating authentic serves like Negroni, Gin Martini, Old Fashioned or French 75, the glassware and barware should complement this and help tell the story of the drinks.
