Vietri takes centrestage at Bloomingdale's
Italian artisan tabletop brand Vietri gets to tell its story in The Gallery at the Manhattan-based store until mid-September
VIETRI Inc., the largest US importer of fine Italian handcrafted dinnerware, flatware, glassware, linens, garden and decorative accessories, is thrilled to be featured in the Gallery on the 6th floor of the 59th Street Bloomingdale’s Store in Manhattan starting Wednesday, July 8th and running through mid-September.
The Gallery is a space within Bloomingdale’s where brands can showcase their stories along with their products. Within the space, VIETRI will feature handcrafted products along with images of artisans and the Italian landscape.
“We wanted to bring the spirit of Italy to life and to show the authentic craftsmanship behind our products. Our hope is that while spending time in the Gallery, people will be transported to Italy with the images and experience VIETRI in a unique way,” says Vice President of Marketing and Ecommerce, Linh Calhoun.
After over 30 years in business, VIETRI continues to celebrate the craft of designing with passion, emotion, intuition, and intent. Founder and CEO Susan Gravely leads the product development team in working with only the top clay and glaze manufacturers in the world who create exceptionally durable clays and high quality glazes.
“We are the work of many hands,” says Gravely, “from the clay to the molder, to the sculptor, to the painter, to the glazer, to the boxer, to the shipper, to the salesperson, to the retailer, to you. No mass market, no mass production by metal machinery. Just materials from the earth, worked on by many hands, with a dedication to quality and beauty. We do this all day, every day to bring the beauty and passion of Italy to you with love.”
Gravely, with her sister Frances and mother Lee, founded VIETRI in 1983 after a family trip to Italy where they fell in love with colorful handpainted dinnerware on the Amalfi Coast. VIETRI has grown from a small company representing one Italian factory to the largest Italian importing company in the American tabletop industry. VIETRI now serves a customer base of over 2,000 top specialty stores in all 50 states, plus Canada, England, Mexico, Europe, South America, Asia, and Australia.
Today, VIETRI works with over 40 manufacturers throughout Italy. These manufacturers are involved in ceramics, glass, metals, and textiles.
