Zwiesel Kristallglas continues growth

One of the world’s leading suppliers of exclusive crystal glasses in high-end hospitality, Zwiesel Kristallglas, achieves double-digit growth in the Middle East and India

Zwiesel Kristallglas Group, a leading supplier of exclusive crystal glasses in high-end hotels and gastronomy, generated a total turnover of E95 million in the last 2015/2016 financial year, with significant growth achieved in hospitality and ecommerce segments. The company achieved particular success in some economically difficult markets, like Spain and Portugal, with double-digit growth rates in the Middle East and India.

The international pioneering role of the Bavarian crystal glass manufacturer was recently substantiated by the appointment as the World Market Leader 2017 in the Crystal Glass for Upmarket Hotel and Gastronomy segment. The honour is awarded by the University of St. Gallen and the Academy of German World Market Leaders with the media partner WirtschaftsWoche.

"The prestigious award as the world market leader crowns a successful business year for Zwiesel Kristallglas AG", says CEO and owner Prof Buske.

Award-winning product
With a mastery of glassmaking, state-of-the-art technologies and sustainable production innovation, Zwiesel Kristallglas is at the forefront of crystal glass manufacturers.

At Ambiente 2017, Zwiesel Kristallglas was once again innovative and design-oriented, presenting numerous new product innovations for table culture, drinks and living.

The collaboration established last year with the design duo Bernadotte & Kylberg was successfully continued with new, exclusive bowl and vase concepts. In addition, new crystal glass series for trade and gastronomy inspired visitors.

Zwiesel Kristallglas secured various awards for extraordinary product designs in the past few years, including the German Design Award and Red Dot Award: Product Design, and this year continued its award-winning success with the Design Plus Award.

With its new Culture by the Glass campaign, Zwiesel Kristallglas is presenting its role as a traditional company with almost 150 years of history, providing the glass with a framework as a cultural asset for all those involved in glass culture: musicians, writers, architects, winemakers, culinary artists, bar poets, hoteliers, and connoisseurs.

Thanks to the company's distinctive sensorial skills, the crystal glassware meets the high requirements of wine professionals and professional users in the hotel and gastronomy sector: the perfectly balanced glass shapes allow an authentic perception of even the finest flavours.

Top-level gastronomes as well as numerous private users also appreciate the outstanding usage properties of the crystal glasses. They are enticing with their special brilliance and, thanks to the patented Tritan®-Protect technology, with their unique resistance to breaking as well as damage in dish washers.

Sustainable quality
With an investment of more than E7 million in more efficient and resource-conserving production, the company also further expanded its role as a sustainable technology leader.

Resource-conserving production plays a central role: efficient production processes and a consistent recycling system ensure reduced pollutant emissions as well as reduced energy and raw material consumption.

Against the backdrop of a stable volume of orders as well as positive signals from the Central European and Asian markets, Zwiesel Kristallglas AG sees the possibility of further sales expansion despite a difficult market environment.

"We are confident that we can continue our growth path in all relevant markets", says Georg Thaller, member of the management board.
